Nearby Attractions
Take a tour of the Igloo Church, a major landmark in the town of Inuvik. Built by volunteers in 1960 with wood floated down the Mackenzie River, the church's design fuses the old with the new. Its domed shape imitates traditional Inuvialuit snow-houses while the walkway to the cupola was made with repurposed hockey sticks.

Farmers, artisans, crafters, bakers, and chefs gather in the Summer and Winter at the Arctic Market to sell their goods in an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.

Avoid attracting wild animals to your campsite. Do not feed animals, and keep food, food waste, and anything else with a scent in a vehicle, hard-sided trailer, or bear-proof canister. Keep sites clean and dispose of garbage in designated receptacles. Please inform park staff of wildlife sightings/encounters in the park.

Grizzly bears are occasionally seen in Gwich'in Territorial Park. If you encounter a bear, remember the 3 S's - Stop, Stand still, Stay calm. Get more info on staying safe in grizzly country.
