Changing your campsite reservation

As long as you are not changing campgrounds, you can make changes to the following information by logging in to your parks account before your arrival date for no additional cost:

  • Personal information (address, license plate, etc.)
  • Occupant information
  • Campsite location (provided the new campsite is the same price)
  • Reservation dates (provided the number of days stays the same)

If you would like to move your reservation to a different campground, you will have to cancel the reservation and rebook at another campground. This change is subject to the campsite cancellation fees.

If you make changes to your reservation that reduce the fees you owe, you will receive a refund subject to our refund policy

Changes that result in additional charges must be paid when you make the change, for example upgrading from a non-powered to a powered site or extending a reservation, are payable at the time of change.

Seasonal/extended stay campsites

All seasonal/extended stay permits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Cancellations and refunds

You may be able to receive a refund for your cancelled booking, depending on how far in advance it is cancelled.

Picnic shelters

You will receive a refund if you cancel your picnic shelter reservation with at least 72 hours (3 days) notice. No refund will be given for picnic shelters cancelled without at least 72 hours' notice.

Campsites

You can cancel or reduce the length of your stay, subject to the following policy: A minimum 10% cancellation or change fee applies to all cancelled or reduced campsite reservations. Cancellations or reservation changes must be made more than 72 hours before 2:00 p.m. of the originally scheduled arrival date to avoid further penalties. Campsite fee forfeitures will be based on the following criteria:

Hours before arrival Penalty
             < 24 hours
3 nights
              24 - 48 hours
2 nights
              48- 72 hours
1 night
              72+ hours
10% of the total reservation cost

The day of arrival is considered to be at 2pm on the originally scheduled arrival date. No refund will be issued for early departures or for the cancellation of a park permit once your reservation has begun.

A night penalty is equal to the cost of one night's stay at the campsite being cancelled.

The remaining balance will be refunded to the credit card used for the original transaction.

Online reservations must be cancelled/changed and refunded through the online system.

Emergency park closures

If a territorial park is closed during the season due to an unexpected emergency or for safety reasons, all cancellation and change fees will be waived and a full refund will be provided for reservation dates that fall within the closure period. Reservations that extend before or after the closure period are not refunded. Seasonal/extended stay site permits will be refunded on a pro-rated daily basis and only for the closure period. Refunds will not be provided for any days that fall outside of the closure period.

Weather and environmental conditions

Due to the highly variable nature of camping outdoors, no exceptions will be made, or refunds given for conditions related to weather, wildlife, insects, water quality, fire bans, liquor bans, car trouble, or other non-emergency situations.

Exemptions

In the event of the death or serious illness of a family member, all cancellation and change fees may be waived and a full refund may be provided. Requests for an exception to the Refund Policy must be made in writing and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The written request must be made within 10 days of the final departure date of the original reservation. Any request made after this time will not be permitted for any reason. Please send your request to parks [at] gov.nt.ca.
