Day use

Northwest Territories is home to 34 stunning parks that welcome day use, 14 of which offer exclusively day use experiences, making it easy for you to enjoy unforgettable day trips throughout the territory. Day-use parks and areas are designed for those who wish to enjoy a slice of nature without the need for overnight stays, providing accessible and scenic spots for picnicking, fishing, and simply unwinding.
Although many day-use areas remain open year-round, please be aware that facilities may not be maintained during the off-season. For up-to-date information on day-use parks, including winter trail reports and events, follow us on Facebook and Instagram!
Permits
Are required for vehicle entrance at all parks with campgrounds. Permits can be purchased upon arrival to the park and grant access from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm daily. Day use permits are available for daily or seasonal entrance to your favorite park. Permit fees are variable dependent on how many people are travelling in the vehicle entering the park. All day use permits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Please see our Rules and Regulations for more information about visiting for the day.
Park Services
If you are planning a day trip, picnic shelters can be reserved online ahead of time. If you have rented a shelter a vehicle entrance permit is not required for the picnic shelter permit holder.
