60th Parallel Territorial Park

General Information

Nestled among birch and aspen trees, overlooking the Hay River, the 60th Parallel Territorial Park offers basic amenities including a shower facility, picnic area, and playground to visitors entering the Territory. Hiking trails and a boat launch provide the opportunity to explore the area on land or by water. The park is adjacent to the iconic 60th Parallel sign that welcomes visitors to Canada's North.

60th Parallel Territorial Park is located at the NWT/Alberta border. The border marks the transition from Alberta Hwy 35 to NWT Hwy 1. The 60th Parallel Park is 100 km south of the hamlet of Enterprise and 148 km from Hay River.

Hay River. Known as the Hub of the North, Hay River is surrounded by boreal forests, rivers, and lakes, making it the perfect base for an outdoor adventure.

Park Highlights

The Visitor Information Centre is open from mid-May to mid-September (8 am - 8 pm). Brochures, maps, washrooms, and fresh coffee are available to visitors. Indigenous arts and crafts are on display in the centre. Visual presentations depict the northern way of life, things to do and what to expect to see on your travels in the NWT. Come in and have a cup of coffee while you take a short break.

Nearby attractions
Twin Falls Territorial Park, with its two cascading falls and easy forested walking trail, is just under an hour from the 60th Parallel.

Fishing enthusiasts will be eager to cast their line into Great Slave Lake, which swarms with grayling, pike, and trout.
