Swim at Long Lake’s sandy beach. Camp, picnic, canoe or enjoy the amenities and attractions of Yellowknife, located just 3 km/1.8 miles away. Hike the 4 km/2.5 mile Prospector’s Trail, highlighting the gold bearing geology of the area. The 4 km/2.5 mile Prospector’s Trail starts just to the left of the shower building. Self-guided booklets are available at the gatehouse or at the Northern Frontier Visitors Centre in downtown Yellowknife.
Yellowknife is only a short drive down Highway 3, with shopping , restaurants, several hotels and all modern amenities.
Across the highway from the park, a hiking trail leads through a wilderness area to connect to a trail system winding around Yellowknife lakes and linking different parts of the city. Check at the gatehouse before you start out for recent wildlife sightings, and inquire about guided tours.
