Attractions & Points of Interest:
Blackstone is one of the parks located on both the Liard Trail (NWT Hwy 7) and along the Deh Cho Travel Connection. The Deh Cho Travel Connection became popular in the 90's during a promotion that travelers of the route were entered into a draw to win a local diamond. The route include the Hwy 1, AB/NWT border and continued along Hwy 1 to Fort Simpson then back out of the Territory via Hwy 7 (The Liard Trail). These tour routes take in the unique communities and sights of two provinces (BC and AB) and the Northwest Territories. The route is still popular among visitors today.
Blackstone Park has its own Visitor Information Centre, worth a visit if you are stopping at or passing by the park. The centre is open during the same time period as the park, seven days a week. The next nearest visitor centres are in Fort Liard (115 km to the south) and in Fort Simpson (166 km to the north).
The next nearest NWT parks with camping facilities are the Fort Simpson Territorial Park (166 km north), and Sambaa Deh Falls Park (195 km east on Hwy 1).
The principle Park attractions are the Liard, Blackstone and Nahanni Rivers, and the Nahanni Range.
